State of Utah - Jobs Air Quality Permit Engineer in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

This is a continuous job posting and the recruitment may close without notice once the position(s) have been filled.

The Department of Environmental Quality is looking to hire an Environmental Engineer to work in their Division of Air Quality's General Permitting Section. 

This position may be filled at any of the advertised levels listed below. Salary depends on the job level offered within the series.

The State of Utah also allows for flexible work schedules and locations. 

  

*Principal Duties *As the Environmental Engineer you will typically: 

  • Write permits for sources of air pollution
  • Review permit applications,including emission calculations
  • Assist sources and the public with questions

*Ideal Candidate *The ideal person for this position will possess:

  • Writing,drafting,or revising air quality permits
  • Professional experience reading,understanding and implementing federal and state environmental rules and regulations as they pertain to the Clean Air Act
  • Experience in industrial processes,air pollution control devices,test methods and monitoring compliance with air emission sources

Job Series *The selected candidate for this position may be brought in as an Environmental Engineer I with a salary range of $23.42-$34.23 Environmental Engineer II with a salary range of $27.57-$38.00 per hour or an Environmental Engineer III with a salary range of $30.72-$42.00 per hour. *Preferences

  • Preference maybe given to those with a Bachelors Degree or higher in Civil,Chemical,Environmental,Mechanical,or in a related engineering field. 
  • OR an equivalent combination of related education and paid professional employment directly related to the above tasks.
  • Preference may also be given to those with a Professional Engineering license.
