University of Utah Accountant in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

The University of Utah Campus Store is seeking an Accountant who will work directly under the Assoc. Director of Finance to maintain and administer accounts receivable records and files, process credit card payments, prepare daily financial reports, and facilitate collections from a variety of organizations/departments as necessary for the University Campus Stores multiple locations. This position requires the ability to apply generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and is expected to recommend changes to accounting-based procedures based upon analysis performed and specialized knowledge.Under the direction of the Assoc. Director of Finance, this position is responsible for providing customer service to sponsored students with special needs, maintaining Campus Store accounts receivables including statement generation and posting of payments for departments and organizations, reconciling assigned general ledger accounts, run a variety of reports, and analyze the data per GAAP guidelines. Applicants must be a self-starter in learning native accounting systems with a strong background in excel. This position will supervise up to one full-time Assoc. Accountant and two part-time interns and is part of a multifaceted team consisting of up to ten full and part-time staff members.
