QUALITY ENGINEER

Description:

Searching for a Quality Engineer. This individual will perform a wide variety of quality engineering functions that require a thorough knowledge of automotive manufacturing procedures and practices. This individual will support manufacturing and engineering to ensure adherence to customer requirements.

Job Duties will include the following:

  • Establish, maintain, coordinate and develop continuous improvements objectives related to implementing and maintaining IATF16949, Management Review, and any other additional customer quality requirements

  • Ensure Quality System integrity by direct involvement with all APQP and PPAP activities.

  • Attend regular APQP meetings internally with team members to up-date status. Maintain visual communication board on PPAP status and new launch information. (P-Gate and M-Gate)

  • Responsible to maintain, monitor, and report monthly on Safe-Launch and GP12 activities for the plant results for the plant.

  • Customer Quality contact for all APQP quality deliverables for all program launches.

  • Lead person in our Internal Auditing process (working in conjunction with corporate personnel), including all necessary documentation and follow-up activities.

  • Provide both leadership, guidance, and support to manufacturing to ensure containment activities and in place and support problem resolution process for any customer or internal non-conforming issues.

  • Act as plant liaison for suppliers and customers. Make visits as necessary.

  • Act as back up to the Quality Manager on Customer systems and External Containment.

  • Will be expected to work closely with the Engineering Group to assure all Quality procedures/requirements are met and maintained. Continuous follow-up for any required customer information with all engineering personnel.

  • Will be expected to work closely with and provide new program launch readiness training to all required personnel in both quality and manufacturing.

  • Establish and maintain PPAP documentation including Control Plans, FMEA’s, FD, IMDS, and conduct gauge studies as necessary. Ensure all required gauge studies, and dimensional capability studies are completed and review for compliance and submitted on-time to the customer. Ensure actions are taken by team to meet all customer requirements.

  • Ensure procedures, work instructions, SOP Boards, master sample boards, and general practices are developed, active, working and being adhered to.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Must Haves:

  • 5+ years of Quality Engineering Experience with an automotive supplier

  • Strong PPAP and APQP knowledge (5+ years of working experience)

  • IATF 16949 - Experience implementing and maintaining these standards

  • Plastic Injection Molding Manufacturing experience required

  • Strong understanding of statistical analysis

  • Experience acting as plant liaison/supplier quality experience (Working directly with OEMs)

Strongly Preferred:

  • 4 year technical/engineering degree

Experience Level:

Intermediate Level
