Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Medical Biller in the Healthcare and Social Assistance industry, located in Salinas, California. As a Medical Biller, you will be responsible for a range of tasks, including the accurate and efficient processing of patient bills, insurance claims, and other related tasks. This role involves significant interaction with insurance providers and patients, requiring a solid understanding of insurance guidelines and billing processes.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately and efficiently process patient bills and post revenue payments/charges to patient’s accounts and insurance providers.

• Review patient bills for completeness and accuracy, obtaining any missing or incomplete billing information as necessary.

• Obtain authorizations as appropriate and verify eligibility and payor benefits.

• Prepare, review, and transmit claims using both automated systems and manual paper claim processes.

• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of insurance guidelines, including HMO, PPO, Medicare, and state Medicaid.

• Follow up on unpaid claims within specified billing cycle timeframe, ensuring accuracy and compliance based on contractual terms.

• Evaluate and investigate payor matters for any discrepancy in payments as necessary and identify and bill secondary payors.

• Actively engage in follow-up activities with both payor or patient to ensure timely payment of bills.

• Handle payor specific appeals and denial of claims, working towards a resolution in a timely manner. Requirements • Proficient in medical billing procedures and protocols

• Familiarity with Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Strong knowledge of healthcare industry practices and regulations

• Experience in hospitals or social assistance settings

• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion

• Detailed oriented with a high level of accuracy

• Excellent computer skills, particularly with billing software

• Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively

• Strong problem-solving skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• High level of professionalism and ethical standards.
