Independent Connection is adding two Youth Outreach Specialists to our team!

As a Specialist, you will build connections with school personnel, employers, parents, and youth

(ages 10-24, with any type of disability) in specific school districts within our service area.

Outreach, consultation, and advocacy support will focus on the students education or

employment plans after high school. Actively listening to individualized needs, empowering

youth to gain independent life skills, and assisting with locating and accessing various resources

to build and use a support network are key focus areas of the work in this position. Getting

students ready for competitive, integrated employment or continuing education will be the

desired outcome of this work. You will participate in training to build your skills in goal setting

strategies, independent living philosophy, and knowledge of available resources. Meetings with

youth will occur one on one or in small groups (virtual/in person/in office/in school). If these

Educational Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required and two years relevant work experience. Bachelors

degree preferred. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with

disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.

Must be at least 18 years of age and be able to pass background checks.

Two full-time positions will be filled. Office hours will be determined by activities but will most

generally be between 8:30am-4:30pm, Monday through Friday. There will be times when it is

necessary to work outside regular office hours, weekend days, or longer than an 8-hour day.

Travel within North Central Kansas is likely. If traveling, employee must have access to

transportation. Or, if a personal vehicle is used, employee must maintain current auto

insurance. Mileage reimbursement will be provided for work-related travel.
