This position is responsible for keeping materials, specialty tooling and paperwork needed to perform an operation at the point of use, in the assigned production areas. Water Spiders allow operators to concentrate on value adding activities, removing the transport and waiting waste from the operators. This position will be accountable for the general organization of material in their assigned area. The Water Spider will regularly monitor and investigate ERP data to highlight issues and material shortages that can impact the production areas and physical inventory within the work cell. Any issues will be highlighted for visibility to leadership and support functions. In addition to utilizing IT equipment to review and maintain the flow of materials to the cell, they will be required to perform warehouse management transactions to a standardized process to ensure a high level of inventory accuracy and traceability. The Water Spider will spend most of their day out on the shop floor performing these tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with manufacturing to move materials to approved production operations accurately and in a timely manner to minimize delay in processing customer orders.

  • Will drive forklift to transport stored items from warehouse to shop floor.

  • Ensure that required materials are always available at the agreed place and time.

  • Ensures materials are properly identified and matches the routing and BOM.

  • Must make accurate transactions in ERP system (Oracle) and resolve discrepancies.

  • Organize incoming and outgoing parts in assigned area while maintaining consistency throughout the department.

  • Evaluate remanufactured parts for reuse or replacement during handling.

  • Ensure that material and storage in the area of assignment appears clean and tidy.

  • React and take immediate actions in case of changes in priority.

  • Participate in continuous improvement and cost saving initiatives.

  • Participate in EH&S and Quality initiatives.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED equivalent

  • Minimum of 3 years related experience in manufacturing environment.

  • Experience using a forklift, inspection equipment, fixtures and hand tools appropriate for the job

  • Ability to identify different materials such as Aluminum, brass, steel , plastics and various different bar stocks.

  • Ability to operate small equipment such as electric chain hoist, and automatic band saw.

  • Knowledge of basic computer functions and data entry components. Experience with Oracle preferred.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, work orders, bills of materials, safety rules, work instructions.

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • This position requires a team player who can work with all levels of management and interact in a positive manner.

  • Demonstrates effective problem solving and sense of urgency matters which may require working overtime on short notice.

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
