Primary Function

Our Fortune 100 tech client is seeking a highly collaborative, resourceful, and experienced digital taxonomist to join their content operations team. The person in this role will drive information organization, content metadata and indexing, taxonomy, and search optimization on our client’s website.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Define and govern the content node structure within the AEM CMS

  • Manage content indexing efforts to ensure content is described adequately with metadata

  • Develop and maintain standards, best practices, and procedures for manual content indexing and auto-categorization

  • Maintain metadata and indexing training content, and deliver training to content owners and managers, as needed

  • Perform manual and auto-categorization indexing

  • Regularly audit content for adherence to indexing guidelines and quality, including completeness and accuracy

  • Partner with IT to ensure bulk indexing efforts align to quality standards

  • Build and maintain controlled vocabulary system for Marketing content

  • Work with stakeholder SMEs to gather business requirements, including through topic research

  • Controlled vocabulary design, including domain analysis, term harvesting, selecting descriptors, and specification of term relationships

  • Support the enterprise-level taxonomy governance process as steward for marketing sub-domain controlled vocabularies

  • Ensure relevant marketing tools and systems are correctly updated with the marketing subdomain controlled vocabularies

  • Work with the DX team to create content optimization guidelines to improve content findability

  • Partner with the website Search Strategist to optimize and tune Coveo search rules

Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of auto-categorization technologies

  • Experience with taxonomy modeling tools, such as Graphite or Poolparty

  • Proficiency with Office applications, particularly Excel

  • Strong research and analytical skills

  • Actively listens to others and acts upon information gained

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to interface effectively with a variety of people in a corporate environment

  • Fully capable of accurate time and resource budgeting

Education & Experience

  • Master’s degree in Library and Information Science or related work experience

  • Familiarity with principles of knowledge organization structures

  • Familiarity with basic and advanced features common in online search systems and search engines
