TPT/Twin Cities Public Television Building Services Specialist in Saint Paul, Minnesota

TPT has an immediate opening for aBuilding Services Specialistto help ensure that all employees work in a building that is welcoming, safe, well maintained, and appropriately equipped.This position works from 12:30 PM - 9:00 PM. Salary: $18-20 per hour MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: JANITORIAL AND PRODUCT SERVICES Perform daily janitorial to ensure our TPT building is kept clean and in working order. Experience in using hand tools and cleaning equipment such as: carpet cleaning machines, vacuums, brooms, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc. Maintain the established levels of custodial supplies through timely communication of purchasing needs and restocking. Perform daily janitorial and maintenance tasks to ensure that the TPT physical building is kept clean and in working order. Works to ensure that products/services are of the highest quality, delivered in a timely manner, and meet client expectations. Knowledge of janitorial equipment, and processes to maintain many different types of surfaces. SPECIAL PROJECTS Assist all departments with projects such as office moves, furniture assembly, and large deliveries with minimal staff interruption or downtime. Assist with the set-up and clean-up of facilities for meetings, trainings, conferences, events, etc. Able to understand and carry out all policies such as OSHA rules, health and safety regulations and guidelines, etc. Communicates the status of the projects and repairs to affected parties to ensure all parties are kept informed of progress. JOB REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or GED required. Minimum 2 years of cleaning / janitorial experience. Ability to work 12:30 PM - 9:00 PM, with occasional weekends for station event or activity needs. Strong level of integrity - takes pride in work, understands confidentiality, and supports the mission of Twin Cities PBS. Consistent attendance and punctuality. Able to work well with others and demonstrate a high level of professionalism. Able to safely and appropriately operate job-related equipment. Capable of following complete instructions and understanding proper procedures. Familiar with Microsoft Office computer skills. The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this role: While performing the duties of this job, this individual will regularly be required to stand, walk, use hands to work with tools or controls, and will frequently need to stoop, kneel, crouch, climb and balance. Must be able to safely lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Able to distinguish colors to accurately read the fire, burglar and security panel alarms, and able to hear any activated alarms. Able to work with various cleaning products, chemicals and latex materials used at TPT.
