We’re looking for a highly professional Tech will take responsibility for who decontamination, cleaning, sorting, tray assembly and sterilization of instruments. This person will maintain knowledge of instruments and their functions. Job Summary:

Under general supervision and following established procedures, decontaminates, disinfects, cleans and checks instruments, prepares and sterilizes reusable items, prepares instrument trays for the Operating Room and all departments as needed. Stays current with sterilization techniques, monitors biological tests for all methods of sterilization according to established procedures.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrates the philosophy of the organization and tenets of integrated health care while providing leadership and demonstrating innovation within the health care ministry.

  • Promotes the achievement of desired safety and clinical outcomes by providing sterile processing leadership team with ongoing feedback regarding performance for new and current employees.

  • Creates an environment that encourages provider satisfaction by ensuring daily workflow processes are followed resulting in sterile and accurate tray/case completion within expected turnaround times.

  • Promotes employee engagement by coordinating orientation of new employees and assisting with planning for continuing education of sterile processing department staff.

  • Assists in the development and revision of department procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or equivalent

EXPERIENCE

  • One year sterile processing experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Constant standing and walking.

  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.

  • Frequent reaching and gripping.

  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.

  • Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, squatting, twisting and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.

  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.

  • Occasional use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.

  • Occasional use of smell to detect/recognize odors.

  • Rare crawling, sitting and keyboard use/data entry.
