Covenant HealthCare US:MI:SAGINAW 7:00 PM - 7:12 AM, WEEKENDS REQUIRED FULL TIME BENEFITED Summary: The Ultrasonographer demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant HealthCare and the commitment to Extraordinary Care for Every Generation. This individual, under limited supervision, uses high frequency sound waves to produce quality diagnostic examinations that will best demonstrate pathology and normal anatomical structures for diagnostic interpretation by a radiologist. The Ultrasonographer has clinical contact with patients in all age groups (neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric) and is able to appropriately assess, care for and treat them according to the age appropriate care guidelines as defined by Covenant HealthCare.

Models Covenant's Mission, Vision and Values of keeping our Promise of Caring and Commitment to Service Has clinical contact with patients in all age groups (neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric) and is able to appropriately assess, care for and treat them according to the age appropriate care guidelines as defined by Covenant HealthCare. Performs all ultrasound/vascular studies assigned while displaying good working knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy Works independently under no direct supervision, on own initiative to achieve quality diagnostic sonograms Possesses the ability to differentiate artifacts from normal or pathologic processes, and recognizes electronic equipment limitations Provides written post-procedural clinical findings of the performed ultrasound exam along with recorded images, to assist the radiologist and/or physician with patient diagnosis Assists physicians during biopsies or other special procedures; often aids in determining appropriate biopsy site Performs surgical and portable ultrasound examinations as assigned Practices sterile technique and prevents cross-contamination to patients and instruments Organizes, plans and directs activities relating to patients and procedures for Ultrasound/Vascular Lab and coordinates scheduling with other departments to ensure patient flow Prepares, and explains nature and time requirements of requested procedures to patients and families Checks patient charts for physician orders, notes and/or other pertinent information or instructions Correlates the clinical history with the examination being performed Provides the radiologist with comprehensive patient history to aid in selecting appropriate ultrasonic procedures Maintains proficiency in all computer functionality necessary to perform job duties (RIS, PACS, QC, email, etc.) Instructs ultrasound students, medical students and residents according to clinical requirements Obtains adequate CEU credits to maintain licensure (including grandfathered staff). Recognizes emergency situations, initiates code procedures, administers BLS as needed Secures and maintains adequate supplies for service; cleans and prepares instruments Performs visual preventive maintenance checks, records and reports results to appropriate personnel Reports operational, functional and system problems to the manager Promotes positive customer and employee relations by projecting a favorable corporate image through professional, courteous and effective interactions with customers, staff and physicians Performs other duties as assigned
