Merrill Technologies Group Subject Matter Expert Specialist - Welding and Fabrication in Saginaw, Michigan

Overview: As a Subject Matter Expert Specialist in Welding and Fabrication at MERRILL, you will work closely with other subject matter experts in a development role to create and control manufacturing plans, and with MERRILL manufacturing on project planning and kickoffs, utilizing your expertise specifically in welding and fabrication as it pertains to MERRILL.

 

Job Functions:

  • Create manufacturing build plans to suppport estimating, engineering, launch, and as shop floor aids
  • Correspond and support customers in co-engineering efforts to ensure best practices through design and manufacturing method in early project stages
  • Create fixture concepts, review customer drawings include redlining to drive down costs and imrpove processes
  • Perform APEX duties as related to contract review, create and review manufacturing processes and router steps, and hold kickoff meetings at plants with lessons learned upon job completion or project repetition.
  • Review and approve MRL's in PLM, support and troubleshooot manufacturing issues, and liase between plants and launch.

     

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably mechnical, or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 10 years of experience in a manufacturing factory floor environment specific to welding and fabrication of large, complex pieces, preferably in the MERRILL environment
  • Ability to read blueprints and a strong knowledge of GD&T and weld symbols
  • Experience with Solidworks and Microsoft Office Suites
  • Knowledge in metallurging, casting processes, material removal processes, inspection, and quality, and tooling and equipment selection
  • Ideal candidate is highly organized and has excellent communication skills, and can handle multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines
  • Must be able to prepare and present detailed, complex manufacturing plans to internal teams and to customers
  • Preferred candidates have experience with low volume, high complexity jobs in a fast-paced shop environment
