Position: Kennel Aide -- 2 positions available Department: Animal Care & Control Status: On-call Classification/Salary: $15.00/hour Date Posted: May 21, 2024

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES Under the direct supervision of the Kennel Manager, individuals perform cage cleaning, animal handling, feeding, and caring of aggressive animals housed in the kennel. Duties also include custodial tasks for the entire animal shelter facility. Must be available to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Clean animal kennels and cages daily. • Maintains cleanliness of facilities, including office area. • Handles animals. • Feeds and cares for animals. • Works directly with public who are reclaiming, animals, adopting, purchasing registrations, and/or gather information. • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS Education: High school diploma or GED. Experience: ? Physical ability to lift heavy animals (approximately 50 pounds). Preferred Experience: ? Previous experience handling animals is desired. ? Knowledge of animal control laws and animal handling skills. ? Basic data entry skills. ? Ability to deal with the public in a sensitive manner under stressful situations.
