Nexteer Automotive Electrical Engineering Co-op 2024 in Saginaw, Michigan

The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with "real world" work experiences. Work assignments expose students to many of the company’s products, processes and procedures. Assignments are designed to assimilate acquired classroom education with actual hands-on work experience in a technical environment. In addition, Nexteer Automotive gains the opportunity to find new talent to enhance productivity while providing students exposure to full-time career opportunities.

Job Requisition Introductory Paragraph:

This is a Student Co-op position located in Saginaw, MI. This position supports the Advanced Software Team and their Vehicle & Lab activities for Steer-by-Wire.

  • Work with the Engineering Staff to setup & maintain the Steer-by-Wire test Bench

  • Work with the Engineering Staff to setup & maintain the Steer-by-Wire Development Vehicle Fleet

  • Responsibilities will include the flashing and debugging of various controllers on the bench and vehicle(s)

  • Tracking and maintaining a working document of processes/work performed on the indicated bench/vehicle(s)

  • Some wiring and physical hardware debugging will be expected

  • Creation of wiring diagrams and schematics will be expected

  • Good understanding of overall Systems Controls and Electrical Circuits needed

  • Success in the above areas will support the student to grow in other areas such as controls, algorithm development, and small technical project management skills

    Requirements:

  • Candidate must be attending a 2-year college or 4-year university local to Saginaw

  • Candidate must have the ability to work onsite, in Saginaw, MI

  • Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelors in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

  • Candidate must be able to work 20-32 hours during Fall and Winter semesters

  • Up to 40 in the summer

  • Must have cumulative 2.7 GPA on 4.0 scale

  • Must be a full-time student (12 or more credits) during Fall and Winter semesters

  • Candidate must have an interest in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering

  • Candidate must have growing knowledge and application of Electrical Engineering principles and a basic understanding of Systems Engineering

  • Candidate must have strong mathematical and analytic ability

  • Candidate must be proficient with Microsoft Products (Office 365, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project, Access, SQL)

  • Candidate must have excellent Communication, Documentation Skills and attention to detail

  • Candidate must have an understanding of typical electrical and bench equipment (Oscilloscopes, Function Generators, EMI Receivers, Power Meters, etc)

  • Candidate must have right to work in the US and not require current or future sponsorship
