Nexteer Automotive 2025 Mechanical Engineering Summer Internship in Saginaw, Michigan

The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with "real world" work experiences. Work assignments expose students to many of the company’s products, processes and procedures. Assignments are designed to assimilate acquired classroom education with actual hands-on work experience in a technical environment. In addition, Nexteer Automotive gains the opportunity to find new talent to enhance productivity while providing students exposure to full-time career opportunities.

Examples of Projects a Student Could Work On:

  • Research new/improved assembly processes

  • Assist with running parts on assembly & test equipment to evaluate equipment performance and product quality

  • Assist with virtual simulations of new assembly and test processes

  • Assist with prototype parts builds and providing evaluation of the builds

  • Observe and provide recommendations during prototyping activities

  • Provide recommendations on different designs and motor technologies

  • Collect and analyze data

  • Prepare parts for testing and review the test results

  • Review engineering drawings and participate in the change management process

  • Test plan development and part submission to validation laboratory

    Please note, projects mentioned above are a general overview of our internship program. Exact project assignments will not be given until 4-6 weeks before the start of your internship.

    Job Qualifications:

  • Must be attending an accredited 4-year University

  • Enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering program

  • Minimum 2.7 GPA on a 4.0 scale

  • Demonstrated attention to detail and documentation

  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult

  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others

  • Knowledge product design process and/or tooling and manufacturing processes preferred

  • Technical knowledge of mechanical principles

  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and coordinate multiple activities

  • Demonstrated commitment to a disciplined approach on projects

  • Good oral & written skills

  • Knowledge / Expertise in the following: Microsoft Office Excel and PowerPoint

  • Candidate must have right to work in US and not require current or future sponsorship

  • Reliable transportation
