POSITION TITLE: Housekeeping Supervisor

REPORTS TO (TITLE): Director of Plant Operations

FSLA Status: Non-Exempt

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

Supervises the activities of the Housekeeping staff to assure the highest standards of sanitation and cleanliness of all Hospital facilities, linens, floor coverings, etc. in accordance with Hospital policies and procedures. Adheres to quality assurance, safety, environmental and infectious control and all regulatory requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Directly assist the Director of Plant Operations in hiring, training, and developing staff of the EVS (housekeeping) team.

· Lead and mentor EVS (housekeeping) staff to accomplish objectives as laid out by facility leadership.

· Schedules, assigns, and supervises the daily activities of the housekeeping staff.

· Adhere and train departmental staff on department policies, procedures, and job responsibilities.

· Works hands-on with staff when necessary or when short staffed to ensure departmental expectations and responsibilities are met.

· Adhere to instructions and deadlines.

· Inspects equipment for safety and sanitary condition.

· Inspects work during shift to assure to satisfactory completion.

· Maintains inventory of materials and orders as needed.

· Maintain up-to-date records on supplies.

· Report to DPO any facility, safety, department, or staff issues when they happen or when you learn of them so they can be addressed in a timely manner.

· Monitors condition of furniture, fixtures, etc. and reports need for replacement or repair to Supervisor.

· Mops, dusts, sweeps, washes, and other housekeeping duties as required.

· With regard to employees under his/her supervision, assures adequate staffing, training, communication and compliance with Hospital policies; administers work rules, regulations and disciplinary action when necessary; appraises employee performance and recommends change of status and wage adjustment.

· Participate in activities which enhance professional growth and development.

· Uphold the Organization's ethics and customer service standards.

· Use of power equipment as needed.

Requirements

Education/Licensure

  • High school, GED, or equivalent required.

  • Current CPR or obtained within 60 days of hire.

  • Handle With Care training obtained within 60 days of hire.

Knowledge and Experience:

· Minimum three (3) years Housekeeping supervisory experience is required.

  • Basic English usage required.

    • Hospital experience is a plus.

· Knowledge of infection control procedures is a plus.

Skills and Abilities:

· Strong leadership skills.

· Strong verbal and written communication skills.

· Possess strong interpersonal skills.

· Must be able to exercise good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills.

· Possess strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize projects, work relatively independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.

· Knowledge of materials and equipment required to accomplish tasks.

· Being able to learn and implement hospital policies and procedures regarding quality assurance, safety and environmental and infectious control and all regulatory requirements in a relatively short amount of time.

· Maintain confidentiality of patients and staff at all times.

· Ability to operate power equipment if needed.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, this position is frequently required to do the following:

· Stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and stand for sustained period of time.

· Walk, push, pull, lift, carry objects from a lower to higher position or horizontally from position to position or otherwise move objects.

· Feel sizes, shapes, temperatures, and textures by touching with skin, particularly that of the fingertips.

· Express or exchange ideas orally accurately and quickly.

· Vision: see details of objects at close range.

· Minimum standard of hearing ranges.

· Lift up to 30 pounds, exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 30 pounds of force frequently

· Minimum standard of visual acuity with or without correction.

· While worker may possibly be subjected to temperature changes, the worker is generally not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions as the work is predominantly inside.

Job may expose incumbent occasionally or in emergency situations to blood, body fluids, non-intact skin or tissue specimens.
