Description of Job

This position will assist Aquatic Biologist with standardized sampling of lake and stream resources.

  • Assist with non-native fish control and monitoring efforts. Assist with maintenance of large-scale river restoration projects.

  • Fish and herptile sampling, chemical reclamation projects, spawn take operations, back-country surveys, equipment and facilities maintenance and data analysis will be primary duties.

  • Extended weekly travel and late night work is required, as well as some weekends.

  • Experience with fish sampling techniques, boat handling skills and amphibian and fish

identification is helpful.

  • Proficiency in computer programs such as Excel and ArcMap, and

data processing skills preferred.

  • Must have a current & valid driver’s license required for operating a state vehicle

  • The work-site will provide some uniform items, however the employee may be required to purchase limited uniform items at their own expense.

  • Applicants may be subject to successful completion of a comprehensive background check.

  • Must be willing and able to work 40+ hours per week.

  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

  • Must be available to work varied shifts.

  • Basic computer skills [required/preferred] (MS Office Suite, Google App Suite, Excel)

  • Ability to work with [limited] supervision and work well within a team.

  • Must be willing and able to climb in and out of vessels and under trailers to perform job

functions.

  • Must be willing and able to work outside which may involve inclement weather.

  • Must be able to lift [50-100] pounds repeatedly during the course of a workday.

Preferred Qualifications: A college degree in Fisheries Management, Fish and Wildlife Management, Watershed Sciences, Natural Resources or associated field is preferred.
