Position summary: Support the implementation and communication of occupational health and safety programs directly in the field. Develop and deliver hands-on training sessions for employees. Conduct field evaluations and inspections of employee tasks and work environments. Review and implement safety programs to identify and mitigate risks. Promote safety incentive programs and driver safety through active engagement with field staff and supervision.

Flexibility to work out of any of our Texas office locations.

Essential functions and responsibilities:

  • Assist with data entry and recordkeeping for client pre-qualification tools such as Avetta and ISNetworld.

  • Investigate and document incidents, reporting incidents to medical management team and insurance carriers.

  • Track and Trend incident and accident statistics and suggest mitigation strategies.

  • Provide historical data for individual clients as needed for prequalification of contract and subcontract work.

  • Assist in the creation of client-specific or project-specific safety plans as required.

  • Monitor and inspect employee activities and worksites to ensure compliance with safety regulations and safe work practices, providing on-the-spot safety coaching as needed.

  • Consult with supervisors and workers on the practical application of safety principles, practices, or techniques in the field.

  • Assist the Director and Deputy Directors with information gathering and recordkeeping for incident investigations.

  • Conduct or schedule training sessions for employee groups and assist with the development of materials.

  • Contribute content for employee safety messaging, including safety tips and monthly newsletter content.

  • Monitor the fleet GPS Safety program in coordination with company fleet managers to ensure safe driving goals are met, employee corrections are made, and driver interactions are documented.

Required SkillsRequired Experience

  • Associates Degree in safety related field (two-year college or technical school) or higher, preferred or work equivalent required

  • 3-5+ years of related safety experience

  • Ability to learn and become proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Programs and required software uses

  • BCSP Certification Holder (CSP, OSHT, CHST)

Qualifications preferred:

  • Engineering, Architecture, Construction or general industry or work with increasing responsibility in the areas of Safety, Training, and interpersonal skills

  • BCSP Certification Holder (CSP, OSHT, CHST)

  • OSHA 10 Hr. Construction Safety and/or General Industry

  • OSHA 30 Hr. Construction Safety and/or General Industry Safety

  • OSHA 500 or 501

Working Conditions:

Work is performed within a general office environment 25% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.

Field work is required 75% of the time where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Occasional lifting of (up to 25 lbs.) may be required. Must be able to climb ladders and stairs and navigate uneven surfaces. Travel by airplane is necessary, so the ability to access an airport is required. This role involves travel to various job sites and offices in multiple states. This will include overnight stays away from the home office.
