Position Description

TheSt. David’s School of Nursing (http://www.nursing.txstate.edu/) at Texas State University is seeking clinical nursing faculty at the clinical assistant professor or clinical associate professor level for a nine-month appointment with optional summer employment.

Faculty responsibilities include: participation in curriculum development and teaching primarily in general undergraduate and specialty clinical areas, including simulation lab instruction. This position will be located in the nursing building on the Texas State Round Rock Campus in Round Rock, Texas.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and qualifications.

The successful candidate will be given the appropriate rank and title based on college and university established policies and standards.

This position is subject to availability of funds.

Required Qualifications

For the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor:·

  • Must have BSN AND a Master’s in Nursing. If in a related field, must have 12 hours of graduate nursing education course work.

  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Texas.

  • At least two years clinical experience in a registered nurse role.

  • A minimum of two years teaching experience in a professional school of nursing, or equivalent teaching experience.

  • Commitment to excellence in teaching and learning consistent with the program vision, mission, and goals as evidenced by a presentation during the campus visit with faculty.

For the rank of Clinical Associate Professor, in addition to those required above:

  • A demonstrated record of accomplishments or activities in scholarship, teaching, and service.

  • A minimum of five years of full-time teaching experience in a professional school of nursing, or equivalent teaching experience at the university level.

  • Demonstrated strong collegial relationships.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current doctorate or enrollment in a doctoral program.

  • Experience in program development, curriculum design, informatics and communications systems, simulation, and teaching undergraduate nursing.

  • Experience with formats of distance education, to include on-line instruction.

  • Experience in higher education including accreditation, program review, and assessment.

  • Certification in one or more nursing specialties or nursing education.

  • Record of accomplishments in scholarly/creative activities, including grantsmanship and extramural funding, and service.

  • Experience in building and promoting community relationships.

  • Demonstrated faculty cooperative support and team development.
