Data Architect
Rotterdam | 38,75 hrsSalary range gross per month: EUR 4500 – 5.900 (excluded a flexible salary component)
This is an exceptional opportunity to build and influence the data landscape of our organization! This is a hybrid role, combining both virtually and from Rotterdam office.
The challenge Aon is a leading advisor and insurance broker in the field of Risk Capital and Human Capital Solutions in the Netherlands.
At the end of 2023, it was announced that the private activities in the Netherlands will be sold to Blackfin Capital Partners, subject to, among other things, approval from regulatory authorities. Preparations are being made for the separation of the private activities into a new organization to be formed, with approximately 400 employees.
This position will become part of the newly formed company. An organization where customer contact and digitalization go hand in hand. We continuously strive for improvements for the customer with an enterprising, hands-on mentality and in an informal atmosphere.
What you will do
You lead the design and implementation of a new cloud data warehouse, integrating global and regional environments. The main focus of this role is on designing robust data architectures and implementing effective governance strategies.

Conceptualize, design, implement and develop a comprehensive cloud data warehouse architecture.
Implement data governance frameworks to ensure data quality, security, and compliance with industry standards.
Provide technical leadership and guidance to the data engineering team in implementing architectural designs.
Help build the team and department.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable and efficient data solutions.
Work closely with stakeholders to identify opportunities for data integration, migration, and optimization.
Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive continuous improvement in data architecture strategies as well as best practices.
This is who you are
You have a minimum of 5 years of experience in data architecture, with a focus on cloud-based solutions. Proficiency in AWS, Snowflake, and Databricks platforms and experience with data modeling techniques. You have good knowledge and experience with Microsoft Azure and also s trong understanding of data governance principles and best practices.Furthermore:
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Proven experience in leading and influencing cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.
Experience working in a global environment with diverse people and data requirements.
Proficiency in database technologies such as SQL, Snowflake databases and familiarity with cloud-native databases, data warehouses, and big data technologies.
Proven experience with ETL and ELT processes with Databricks, and DBT or comparable.
Experience with crafting a data integration architecture that seamlessly combines information from diverse sources and formats.

Because we believe that no one is the same, in addition to the fixed gross monthly salary, we also offer a flexible salary component of 19.21% of your gross monthly salary. You can have this paid out extra monthly or, for example, purchase additional days of leave or use it for extra pension The choice is yours.
