Chaves County Auto Mechanic in Roswell, New Mexico

JOB SUMMARY: This is a journeyman level automotive equipment maintenance and repair position. The work involves the application of modern automotive repair methods and maintenance of light to heavy gasoline powered automotive equipment and law enforcement vehicles.

BENEFITS: Retirement, Medical, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or G.E.D.; 4 years' experience in gasoline powered engine repair. Mobile air conditioning certification or the ability to obtain said certification within six months of hire.

CERTIFICATION/TRAINING: Valid NM Class A CDL. Mobile Air Conditioning Certification or the ability to obtain said certification within six months of hire.

ABILITIES/SKILLS: Employee diagnoses problems with automotive equipment; determines the best way to repair problems with existing parts and tools; improvises repair methods when no standard method exists and makes recommendations for outside repairs when the nature of the problem is totally beyond the capability of the County shop. Responsibilities include routine servicing, preventative maintenance and the safe and efficient operation of assigned equipment utilized by the Road Department. Employee prepares monthly reports detailing all costs for parts and labor on repairs. Employee must perform all related work as required and other duties as assigned.
