The Director of Engineering provides leadership in support of product development and product stewardship for specific targeted markets at CPC. The person in this role acts as a critical leader in guiding the engineering management team through the growth of the business as well as the growth of their careers. This role interacts closely with customers and other departments including Marketing, Sales, Manufacturing, QA, Testing and Supply Chain to deliver value to our customers. Essential Job Responsibilities Partner with customers, sales, marketing, manufacturing, QA, and supply chain to deliver quality products for diverse OEM markets through: Leadership of the Design Engineering function including mechanical, simulation, and research Manage the Product Engineering team as needed from a Voice of Product perspective. Lead the Process Development team that supports new product development Develop current and future managers on the team to help strengthen our bench of leadership talent Contribute to improving CPC's New Product Development Process by partnering with other Directors from other business units and disciplines Set clear objectives, evaluate progress against objectives, and instill performance-oriented culture with a focus on accountability Lead with strong enthusiasm for innovation, creativity, and passion for the product as well as the people on the team Identify proprietary Intellectual Property relative to product design and assures appropriate action is taken to protect it Adheres to all safety regulations Demonstrates support of CPC core values Other duties as assigned Essential Supervisory Responsibilities: Provide leadership, influence, and management for: R&D Engineering Manager Product Engineering (Sustaining Engineering) Product Test laboratory (Mechanical and Microbiology) Essential Sphere of influence includes: Process Development Engineering Required Job Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering 8+ years of experience in an Engineering Leadership role with emphasis on product development Experience in a research and development environment Demonstrated history of developing managers and individuals Keen problem-solving skills Strong communication and people management skills Preferred Job Qualifications Advanced technical or business degree 12+ years work experience in an Engineering management Certified Six Sigma Black Belt Experience with formal continuous improvement and lean product development Experience in Medical Device or ISO13485 QA system environment Keen understanding and passion for intellectual property management Travel: Up to 20% domestically and internationally Physical Demands: Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 poun s and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
