Become a Modeling, Forecasting and Economic Analysis Senior Advisor at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. You will promote Procurement excellence by leading others on the Market, Spend, Cost and Supply Market Intelligence and Analytics that will assist Procurement teams on improving data accuracy in demand forecasting, improve sustainability, reduce risk, negotiate better contracts, and understand trends and spend analysis that ultimately result in better decision making, supplier selections, increasing profitability and remaining competitive.

This role will support day-to-day Category strategy market intelligence and analytic needs as well as continuous improvement and enhancement efforts of Procurement processes and performance across all $6.9B in third party spend. Your interpersonal, analytical, and critical thinking skills will be exercised as you lead a variety of strategies that focus on value creation, cost savings, continuous improvement, and risk mitigation.

A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

  • Provide leadership, guidance and support to team members and Procurement Category Managers on all aspects of Market Intelligence, spend data, and category strategy development in addition to develop, and oversee project teams, providing work direction in coordination with direct managers and departmental management.

  • Assess current and future Market Intelligence spend analytics tools, business processes and/or technological fit based on external market and industry standard methodologies. Integrate strategies with technology solutions such as Ariba, SAP and related platforms.

  • Develop and prepare market intelligence projections and category deep dives of pricing validations-analyses, weighted-should cost modeling (contract changes/updates), historical and forecasted market index analyses, industry trends, key cost drivers and other applicable category management metrics. Work with pre-built pricing models and change as needed for each opportunity and use cost/commodity models for historical and future projections.

  • Develop and implement metrics to monitor area of responsibility, identification of gaps and implement action plans to remediate, track and report project performance through completion. Understand and assess the internal/external strategic landscape of Procurement and how Market Intelligence, data and analytics can affect the success of Procurement category management.

  • Subject matter expert in using a combination of business understanding, strong analytical and critical thinking skills, statistics, and programming/modeling knowledge to identify and communicate trends related to Procurement while collaborating with internal and external parties to develop, and present findings/conclusions on pricing options, design, revenue recovery, benchmarking, and market outlooks.

  • Establish the direction for compiling reports, charts, and tables based on organizational needs to measure business results.

The essentials

  • Ten (10) or more years of experience with statistical, econometric, engineering, or financial modeling.

  • Five (5) or more years of experience in a procurement environment.

  • Effectively communicate and present complicated technical issues in a simple, logical, and succinct manner both orally and in written form.

  • Experienced in communicating and presenting to internal and external stakeholders and Senior leadership.

  • Experienced in reporting, analytics and cost and budget analysis.

  • Experienced with Word, Excel, Power Point, Power BI, SAP (Ariba) and SharePoint ( Maintenance)

The preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Technical or Operations Management, Administration, Economics, Public Policy, Finance, or a related field.

  • Experience with regulatory proceedings, handling filings, GRC, other regulatory processes and Bureau of Labor Statistics data.

  • Experience in complex problem solving and critical thinking.

  • Experience creating project management plans that specify charter, scope, cost estimates, schedule, and target dates, and risk management plans.

  • Ability to work well under time constraints, adjust to changing priorities, organize a heavy workload, work well in a team environment, and perform with minimal direction.

  • Experience with dashboard building and data analysis.

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid . The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
