Microsoft Corporation Optical Developer - Azure Fiber in Romsey, United Kingdom

The Azure Fiber team in Romsey is seeking a methodical and dependable candidate to join our team. You will be part of our software team, supporting the development of software application or features that are internally deployed in our manufacturing and test lines. You will be responsible for software and databases up-time, managing tasks and delivering solutions related to bug-fixes and implementation of new features for released applications. You will also support the management of our product backlog items, leveraging on-premises resources and external suppliers. Furthermore, you will manage our relationship with IT suppliers and vendors. As such, this is a hands-on role based in Romsey, UK.

Responsibilities

  • You will work with stakeholders to define test and automation needs and lead the creation of test automation to fulfill those needs. You will also produce detailed design documents for your solutions.

  • You will write, enhance, and streamline code for managing and automating optical fiber towers and test, and measurement equipment.

  • You will invent systems to monitor draw towers.

  • You will develop tools for automatic problem resolution and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline.

  • Technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Python and LabVIEW.

  • Experience in designing end-to-end software solutions for equipment and data automation, which included leveraging cloud services and cloud computing.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field.

  • Understanding of optical networks and their components.
