BAE Systems Junior Test and Integration Engineer (Onsite) in Rome, New York

Job Description

BAE Systems is looking for a Junior Test and Integration Engineer to support the continued development and delivery of a world class geospatial library capability. The program is developing tomorrow s technology to enable cutting-edge access, delivery and exploitation of geospatial data. As a part of the team, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of developing and executing comprehensive test cases to validate the features and functionality of the library software itself, as well as patches/updates, hot fixes, plugins, and several associated software packages. Continuous Integration and Test is a core philosophy on the program and thus the Systems Engineering team is striving to employ automated and manual test methods to thoroughly test the product prior to operational deployment. A strong desire to build efficiency into the testing process with a focus on continuous process improvement to ensure bug-free software is a must. The team will leverage advanced testing products and techniques to develop the systems engineering products.

The primary tasks include:

  • Executing test procedures to verify program requirements

  • Documenting defects in the tracking system

  • Creating test procedures to verify new requirements

  • Assisting the maintenance of the test environment

Assigned tasks may also include:

  • The development of user stories, backlog prioritization and management, technical documentation, sprint planning, resource management and customer engagement.

  • Close interaction with other engineers within and across the teams is required to achieve program objectives.

  • Position could eventually require infrequent business travel to customer and Company locations in support of product installations, team collaboration, test activities and customer meetings.

Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed full-time on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering or related discipline or equivalent experience

  • Hold a Top Secret security clearance

  • Software installation, integration, checkout and test skills

  • Ability to participate in analyzing customer needs, and identifying user stories and technical tasks to achieve various Agile objectives and iterative development schedules

  • Ability to use statistical analysis methods and tools

  • Team player with a proactive attitude and the ability to be productive in a dynamic/collaborative environment (e.g., open seating arrangement)

  • Strong oral and written communications skills

  • Proficiency with MS Office applications

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Agile Systems Engineering related experience

  • Proficiency with Agile management tools (e.g., Jira, etc.)

  • Proficiency with Test Environment tools (e.g., VSphere, Windows Updates, AWS, etc.)

  • Test automation experience or sufficient test scripting skills in a common scripting language

  • Security certification

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $68700 - $116800

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
