Xcellent Technology GIS Database Administrator in Rolla, Missouri

Come work with XTS supporting the United States Geological Survey (USGS)! In this role, you will maintain the database that houses ALL of the information behind the scenes of The National Map, a dynamic map that is used all over the United States by public users, government agencies, and academia. Activities involve administering the backend of the database by running queries, ensuring locks on fields are properly maintained, and work with the production team to ensure the schemas they require are incorporated into the database. In addition, you will provide organization, patch management, backup and recovery, and risk management of key data and infrastructure. You will be well-versed in PostgreSQL and Linux and should have some exposure and experience with Python and scripting as well. This position even offers a hybrid work schedule once established in the position! REQUIRED:

  • 2+ years of database administration experience

  • Database System Support

  • Database Applications support

  • Must have SQL experience

  • Must have Linux experience

  • Must be able to receive / maintain a favorable adjudicated Public Trust investigation (US Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident for at least 3 years) and pass Security background check

    DESIRED: 

  • PostgreSQL experience

  • AWS experience

  • Docker experience

  • Scripting / Programming languages experience (Python, Bash, plpsql)

  • Experience working with geospatial (GIS) databases / PostGIS / ArcGIS

  • Developer support
