Responsibilities

Weston and Sampson is currently seeking an Environmental Scientist/Geologist with 1-3 years of experience for our EGE discipline in our Rocky Hill, CT office. The prospective candidate must have a strong work ethic and demonstrate a willingness to be part of a growing team. Ideally the candidate will reside in the Rocky Hill area and have the ability to work in a hybrid environment (office and remote).

Qualifications

What youll do:

  • Conduct Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments consistent with ASTM standards and CTDEEP requirements/regulations
  • Provide oversight and collect samples during the installation of soil borings and monitoring wells, and remedial activities (Assignments may require long hours of field work)
  • Collect field samples for screening and/or laboratory analysis (air, soil, groundwater, and water)
  • Manage analytical data (tabulation, evaluation, and QA/QC review)
  • Prepare plans/maps/boring logs
  • Assist with the preparation of work plans and technical reports
  • Assist with field assignments as needed by other disciplines (i.e., stormwater sampling, construction inspections)

What you will bring:

  • Bachelors degree in environmental science, geology, or another related field
  • 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations (HAZWOPER) and annual refresher training
  • 1 to 3 years of experience
  • Experience working independently in a field setting (drilling supervision, sample collection, construction oversight)
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS and AutoCAD considered a plus, but not mandatory
  • A positive attitude and the ability to communicate effectively with others
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle a flexible workload, diverse projects, and work well with multiple staff members
  • Willingness to travel to conduct field work (valid drivers license is required)
