Job Title:  Senior Network Systems Engineer

Location: Rockville, MD 

Overview: The Senior Network Systems Engineer, designated as key personnel, is responsible for overseeing the administration and operation of network and system infrastructure across both on-premise and AWS cloud environments. This role is crucial for ensuring the integrity and performance of IT systems that support the organization's objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert management of various hardware platforms, software solutions, and virtualized environments, particularly within a diverse computing environment that includes Windows Operating Systems, Linux (Redhat and Ubuntu), VMWare, and Nutanix products.

  • Task Area 2 – Infrastructure and Cloud Engineering Support: Lead the support efforts in maintaining and enhancing the infrastructure that supports both the on-premise data center and cloud-based operations.

  • Subtask 4.2.8 – Network Security and Patch Management: Directly responsible for managing the routine patching of servers and systems, ensuring all are up to date with the latest security patches and standards. Also, maintain Anti-Virus and Anti-Malware across all hosts, managing whitelist/blacklist solutions for application protection.

  • Oversee the operational security activities that include the development of improvement projects and maintenance documentation.

  • Collaborate closely with IT security teams to align infrastructure security measures with organizational security policies.

    Qualifications:

  • Must possess an undergraduate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • A minimum of 10 years of technical experience in network systems engineering, with significant exposure to both on-premise and cloud environments.

  • Required to hold either a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification.

  • AWS Cloud Practitioner or similar cloud certification preferred.

  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Tier 2 Public Trust clearance.

    Tools and Technologies:

  • Proficient in managing Windows, Linux, VMWare, and Nutanix environments.

  • Skilled in using advanced network management and monitoring tools.

    Work Hours:

  • Standard work hours are from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, excluding Federal holidays.
