GDIT is seeking a Cloud Architect to join our team to support to support National Institutes of Health (NIH), in Bethesda, MD . As a Cloud Architect supporting NIH, you will be tasked with providing cutting edge solutions and forward-thinking ideas. You will be part of a diverse team of engineers supporting NIH’s mission. Currently, the NIH team is working 100% remote but when normal operations resume, you must be able to commute to Bethesda, MD as needed with a partial remote work schedule.

In this role, a typical day will include:
Architects and provides subject matter expertise in cloud solutions including lifecycle management for secure cloud-based workloads.
Architects cloud migration solutions using proven methodologies and tools
Collaborate with engineers, developers, data architects and scientists to identify, research, and recommend cloud and data migration solutions and services
Design, plan, and implement Azure cloud computing services, migration tools using emerging cloud methodologies and tools
Evaluate scientific workflows, data and applications to provide migration recommendations, planning, and testing
Provide analysis and recommendations for new cloud services
Demonstrates to our customers and applies a deep understanding of governance, compliance, and cyber security (ATO, System Security, Risk Management, Incident Management)
Evangelizes the architecture vision to management, stakeholders, and staff; Drives innovative thinking and processes to capture ideas
Responsible for any needed design artifacts (some of those may be customer deliverables; some may just be for internal use based on best practices, the SDLC, and/or GDIT’s methodology).
Collaborates closely with our leveraged service center to incubate, design, and deliver leveraged hybrid cloud offerings
Engage and participate in the cloud community of practitioners to build a strong sense of community and provide meaningful corporate reach back
Maintain and monitor cloud development best practices and cloud development environment to ensure services meet the required availability, reliability, security, and compliance standards and controls
Required Qualifications:
BA/BS or equivalent and 8+ years related experience or a MS and six years IT experience
Minimum of three years of experience implementing and operating an enterprise-scale cloud, including service catalog and service enablement automation, DevOps automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelining, automated delivery models, cross-region DR and active-active architecture, tagging frameworks and audit controls
Knowledge of PaaS offerings such as Redhat OpenShift
Experience migrating on-premise infrastructure, data or applications to Azure or AWS
Experience with commonly used Azure services and the ability to ramp-up quickly
Strong documentation and communication skills
Must be able to obtain a NIH Public Trust
Desired Qualifications:
Experience with Azure and Azure Data Management/ Migration
Strong understanding of cloud technology and its implementation across major Cloud providers (ex. Azure, AWS and Google)AWS or Azure certification
Experience designing and implementing technologies following NIST standards, such as SP 800-53, SP 800-190, and SP 500-291
Experience with cloud native architecture and development. Proven expertise with modern architecture techniques including micro services and event driven architectures
Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure and application components (Servers, storage, networks, database, application Servers etc.)
Working knowledge of Cloud management technologies such as ServiceNow, CloudCheckr and others
