Our comprehensive services include education, health, and family engagement.

Penquis, a social services agency with over 50 years of experience serving Penobscot and Piscataquis counties, is seeking a full-time Program Manager (40 hours per week, benefits eligible). In this role, you will oversee and manage daily operations at our Child Development sites in the Rockland area.

Location: Rockland, Maine

Program Manager Responsibilities:

  • Possess a strong enthusiasm for early childhood education and enjoys the role of an educator.

  • Establishing positive and productive relationships with children and families.

  • Serve in various roles throughout the centers as needed.

  • Actively leads center staff to accomplish center targets, objectives, and goals.

  • Responsible for the ongoing monitoring and support of the Penquis Child Development Rockland sites and corresponding staff.

  • Ensuring that clients receive quality services in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Ensuring that contract and grant requirements are met, such as tracking outcomes and reporting, participating in statewide coalitions.

Program Manager Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood, social work, or related field, with 2 years of work experience which includes direct service and staff supervision.

  • Previous work experience in managing an early childhood center and program evaluation is preferred.

  • Computer proficiency including word processing.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Budget development and monitoring experience, and experience facilitating meetings.

  • Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.

  • Penquis Child Development will pay for newly hired staff to obtain appropriate credentials or continued educational opportunities*

The starting salary for this position is $56,840 commensurate with experience and qualifications. Those with related education and experience are encouraged to apply.

Eligible upon hire, new employees in our Early Childhood programs who work 24-40 hours per week, will receive a monthly stipend which is based on your lattice through MRTQ (Maine Roads to Quality).
