The successful candidate will be involved in conducting various tests on materials, analyzing data, and assisting in research and development projects. A focus on polymer materials, mechanical property test methods, test standards, and additively manufactured parts is strongly preferred. This position offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth and development in the field of materials science and additive manufacturing research. The ideal candidate will be organized and open to a collaborative peer environment. Openness to learning new analytical techniques and instruments, including application specific testing and new method development is a plus. Cross site collaboration and flexibility regarding changing priorities will be a primary element of the candidates skillset. WHAT YOU’LL DO: * * Conduct laboratory tests on materials to evaluate mechanical, physical, and chemical properties. * * *Analyze test results and prepare detailed reports and presentations. * * *Assist in research and development projects related to materials innovation and improvement.* * *Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability of test results, including detailed record keeping and documentation.* * *Collaborate with senior scientists and engineers to troubleshoot issues and optimize testing procedures.* * *Adhere to safety protocols and quality standards in all laboratory activities.* * *WHAT YOU’LL NEED: ** Qualifications * *Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field. * Strong academic background with coursework or experience in materials testing. * Proficiency in laboratory techniques and equipment operation. * Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret technical data. * Attention to detail and accuracy in work. * Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Knowledge and Abilities: * Interpretation of characterization tests such as DSC, DMA, TGA, tensile, impact, and flexural methods. * Familiarity with ASTM and ISO standards. * Experience with microscopy, spectroscopy, and SEM. Work Environment & Safety Requirements:* *Adherence to safety standards and rules, including wearing necessary personal protective equipment. Fine manipulation of test instruments may be required.
