Description of Duties

This is a supervisory position located in the Department of Finance responsible for assisting in the day‑to‑day management of financial analysis, and claims management activities including client vendor payables and receivables and reimbursement claiming with an emphasis on functions pertaining to the Department of Human Services and the Department of Public Health. This position differs from Senior Assistant Supervisor of Claims and Accounts by virtue of planning the fiscal functions of the unit, assisting with budgetary preparation, overseeing the development of improved processes and procedures, and assuming the duties of the administrator of the unit in his/her absence. The employee reports directly to and works under the general supervision of the Assistant to the Controller-Health and Human Services or other higher level staff member. General supervision is exercised over accounting and clerical staff. Does related work as required .

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:

(A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Master's degree , plus two (2) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in accounting, auditing, financial record keeping, or processing claims or vouchers for payment, one (1) year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; OR,

(B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's degree, plus three (3) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience as stated in (A) above, one (1) year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; OR,

(C) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate’s degree, plus five (5) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience as stated in (A) above, one (1) year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; OR,

(D) Seven (7) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience as stated in (A) above, one (1) year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; OR,

(E) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B), (C), and (D) above.
