University of Rochester Revenue Cycle Analyst I in Rochester, New York

Responsibilities

Job Summary

Supporting cash applications management, the cash applications (C/A) analyst will work in a complex and collaborative environment that will require independent action to review issues affecting optimal workflow and/or reimbursement. Responsible for gathering, interpreting, and summarizing data into recommended actions. This role will also serve as the liaison for assigned cash application related projects. Functions include, but are not limited to: assessing data from different sources; delving into data to discover trends and inconsistencies; partnering with United Business Office colleagues, departments or other stakeholders to ensure collaboration on shared projects. The C/A analyst will be a diligent problem solver, creatively using data to present findings and recommendations to the Managers of the Cash Applications team who will act on those recommendations. The C/A analyst must have effective problem-solving skills and demonstrated working knowledge and high-level understanding of data reporting, analytics and revenue cycle operations. This position reports directly to Associate Director of Cash Applications.

Key Functions and Expected Performances

With general guidance from the UBO Cash Applications Associate Director:

30% Evaluates data to improve business operations in Cash Applications. Comprehensive analysis (gathering the data needed) to solve problems; interpreting the data and then summarizing it into recommended actions. This may require analyzing reports from available internal reporting systems and external payer resources.

25% Works with UBO Cash Applications managers and external payers to resolve missing payments, payment problems and credit balance resolutions. This may include reviewing Cash applications procedures to confirm accurate posting and resolution and escalating to the manager for additional investigation and action plan development when required.

20% Responsible for researching and resolution of PLB balances within the faculty practice and for shared PLB transfers across entities.

20% Responsible for enrollment of EFT and ERA applications for various payers as needed.

5% Perform QA reviews on associate’s batches and various Cash applications processes and procedures.

May perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 1 of related relevant healthcare billing office experience; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong working knowledge of the professional billing software applications

  • 2-4 years cash application, accounting or finance background

  • 1-year data reporting experience

Pay Range

Pay Range: $25.03 - $35.04 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
