University of Rochester Public Health Project Spec II in Rochester, New York

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Plays a crucial role in supporting our institution’s research initiatives. Working under broad guidance from the CTSI Function Leader for Recruitment and Retention, administers several tools and resources to help UR research investigators recruit qualified candidates for their clinical studies. Serves as a primary administrator of a new web platform that will improve the experience of community members who are seeking information about research participation. Responsible for ensuring that all UR research studies are added to the platform as well as training/supporting research team members on using the platform to help them meet their participant enrollment goals.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Research Study Posting Platform

  • Within our study posting platform, drafts study listings in plain language for all UR research studies, obtains sign-off from research coordinators or investigators, confirms needed regulatory approvals have been received, and approves final listings.

  • Ensures study information and related content remain up-to-date. Educates research team members on participant communication and tracking functionality that’s available to them on the platform.

  • Recommends modifications and improvements to user interface and operational process for handling study postings.

Social Media Management

  • Helps research teams explore social media as a possible recruitment channel, and help develop effective ads to promote their research studies. Manages ad campaigns within the Facebook Ads Manager, including tracking and reporting metrics back to research teams. Ensures associated billing is handled properly. Responds to messages received through the UR Health Research Facebook page and address any comments on ads or posts appropriately.

UR Research Volunteer Registry

  • Handles inquiries from research investigators involving the release of identifiable data. Updates email lists with volunteers that have newly joined the registry. Creates newsletters to share open research studies with people in the registry.

ResearchMatch.org

  • Serves as an institutional liaison for ResearchMatch.org, a national volunteer registry. Reviews contact messages for effectiveness and approves research studies to be added to the platform. Promotes and tracks use of the registry by investigators and promotes registry to potential volunteers.

Community Engagement and Promotions

  • Provides support in the planning and execution of initiatives to promote research participation within the community. Assists with special projects like the conduct of a biennial survey about community attitudes towards research. Attends community events to promote the UR Research Volunteer Registry.

Volunteer Experience

  • Liaises with the Research Help Desk, UR Health Research inbox, and URMC’s front line call center for research. Responds to emails and phone calls from community members to assure a seamless experience when they are seeking information about available studies.

Other job duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree with major course work in a health, social, or technical field.

  • 2 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Excellent organizational skills and comfortable with communication using a variety of mediums simultaneously (video conferencing, multiple messaging platforms, email, phone).

  • Must work well in a team environment as well as independently.

  • Must be highly skilled with Microsoft Office software.

  • Position will require occasional travel.

Preferred:

  • Previous content management, social media management, or marketing experience a plus.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $42,786 - $57,782 Annual

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
