University of Rochester Personal Assistant to Director, URNI in Rochester, New York

Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The purpose of this position is to provide daily personal assistance for a disabled individual, specifically the Director of the University Of Rochester Neurorestoration Institute (URNI).

Duties:

Assist with various personal care and personal hygiene needs, including organization and maintenance of medical and office files, ordering and picking up prescription and OTC medications, preparation of meals and clean-up, assisting with clothing changes, assisting with all in-office OT/PT, exercise bike, standing frame, daily stretching and exercises, assisting with the use of hot and cold packs and other therapeutic devices, performing transfers safely to and from wheelchair, accompanying and assisting at scheduled medical visits and treatment appointments, and other personal hygiene duties as needed during the course of the work day.

Drive the Director to and from work by van, including transporting the Director to and from office meetings and work-related events in the company van. Travel as needed with Director for work-related business travel. Maintenance of equipment, including oversight for maintenance of University handicapped vehicle, ensuring adequate gas supply and washing the vehicle weekly, and maintenance of Directors wheelchair and other equipment and ensuring repairs are completed when issues occur.

Other duties as requested by the Director, including coordinating scheduling of assistants during periods of vacation or illness.

Qualifications:

Must have and maintain a clean driver’s license, and must be willing to travel. Must be able to begin work each morning at 9:15 AM and work until the workday ends (usually 6:30 PM). Must be able to lift 75 pounds. Must have adequate computer skills in Word and Excel. Must be able to work within the strict confidential guidelines of a medical center (HIPAA). Medical and personal care assistance training preferred, especially working with the injured or disabled (Certified Nurse’s Aide desirable or minimum 2 years’ experience in health care). Mechanical ability – to disassemble and assemble equipment, repair and adjust equipment such as wheelchair or shower chair. Work scheduling flexibility a must.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $17.64 - $24.71 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
