$19-$20 per hour and a Free YMCA Membership

Under the direction of the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Specialist is responsible for providing support for the Payroll Department in processing payroll and benefits for over 1500 employees. The position is responsible for ensuring that the mission, purpose, image and core values at the YMCA of Greater Rochester are conveyed.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Communicate effectively with branches to ensure accuracy, timeliness and completeness of payroll and benefits documentation.

· Review data in the payroll system including but not limited to hours worked, direct deposit changes and other personnel information.

· Process daily changes needed in the payroll system; including pending requests from branches and completing the new hire process in onboarding.

· Assist in reviewing and auditing electronic timesheets as needed.

· Assist with any payroll imports as required.

· Process manual checks, reissue stale checks and Miller Loan checks.

· Process monthly reconciliation of health and benefits insurances. Work with Human Resources monthly to resolve any discrepancies.

· Prepare journal entries as needed.

· Train and support branch staff on payroll processes.

· Regularly create reports as necessary and special requests for various users.

· Serves as a back-up to Payroll Manager in performing electronic payroll transmittal.

· Maintain compliance with applicable federal taxation and employment laws and regulations

· Attend all required training, meetings and events.

· All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

· Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED; Associate’s degree preferred.

· At least two years customer service experience required.

· At least one year accounting or payroll experience preferred.

· Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and have the ability to work independently and with a team.

· Must be organized and have the ability to multitask in a deadline driven environment.

· Knowledge of general accounting, taxation, and payroll laws are required.

· Knowledge of MS Office; enhanced skills in Excel preferred.

· Familiarity with payroll/HRIS systems preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Ability to sit for extended periods of time.

· Ability to lift up to 15lbs.

Salary Description

$19 to $20 per hour
