University of Rochester Ordering & Receiving Clerk in Rochester, New York

POSITION SUMMARY:

Orders perishable and durable goods and services. Receives and may direct the receiving, storing and issuing of ordered items.

SUPERVISION AND DIRECTION RECEIVED :

Under direct supervision of a University Administrator, Business Manager, or equivalent.

SUPERVISION AND DIRECTION EXERCISED :

No formal supervision is exercised. May direct the efforts of stockkeeper, trucker or similar personnel.

MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT USED :

Typewriter, calculator and scales.

TYPICAL DUTIES :

  1. Receives and reviews requests for purchase of items such as animals, food, supplies, equipment and services. Verifies, fills in, prepares and documents purchase requests in accordance with standard procedures.

  2. Compares prices, specifications and delivery dates, and places orders for specific requested items consistent with and under the jurisdiction of lawful purchase orders. Submits requests to purchasing department for special purchase orders when needed.

  3. Examines and accepts shipments of items and maintains receiving documents and records. Initiates action for payment of items received and/or for adjustment of defective items.

  4. May establish procedures for, perform and/or direct personnel engaged in receiving, storing, issuing and distributing purchased items. May originate billing to departments or to predefined accounts for items ordered.

  5. May originate orders and requests for items which fall within a perpetual inventory or other predefined stock system. Takes periodic inventory of stock items.

  6. Performs clerical tasks such as typing, filing, record keeping and periodic reporting. Keeps the area and equipment in good condition and performs other duties as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Up to 2 years of related post high school education or equivalent, or 2 years of related practical experience.

JOB PROGRESSION :

With sufficient education, training and experience, this position may lead to higher level supply chain positions.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $ 17.00 - $ 22.95 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
