Job Description:

*Highland Hospital is seeking an APP to join its Progressive Care Unit (PCU) team. Candidates for this role will need to be able to work a schedule as follows:

Sunday Monday Tuesday rotating with Wednesday Thursday Friday. Switch occurs on the last Sunday of every month. Sundays is 7p to 7 a and the rest of the week is 8pm to 8 am. Holidays being 7p to 7 a.

Some duties include but are not limited to:

To admit and execute orders on adult patients requiring in-house medical coverage for the Progressive Care Unit as needed. Obtains detailed sign-out from the PA teams, to assist in evening cross-coverage and any medical issues the PA teams need to follow up. To convey pertinent patient medical problems to the covering attending so a medical treatment plan can be formed.

As needed, may be asked to assist the Nocturnist with Admissions. As needed, may be asked to assist the ICU APP.

Other detailed duties include but are not limited to:

Writes orders pertaining to the patient’s care, including medication, parenteral therapy, clinical investigation, fluid therapy, laboratory data, X-ray studies, MRI, CAT, cardiac studies, diet, and special instructions according to the patient’s assessed needs.

As needed, cross-covers on paged medical problems that arise and cares for the patient promptly and efficiently. Performs necessary data collection, conveys problems to covering physician, and executes a proper team plan.

Must demonstrate the ability to care for patients of the adolescent to geriatric age range and vented patients.

Cross-covers on acute admitted patient’s medical problems. Reassesses the patient. Performs necessary data collection and stabilization of the patient. Conveys, via telephone, the patient’s new medical problem to the covering physician for execution of further treatment plans.

Admit patients to the inpatient medicine service from the Emergency Room, ICU, or direct admission pathways. Obtains a detailed medical history and performs a complete physical examination. Provides for further data collection. Completes all medical record documentation, including assessment/plan.

Salary Range:

$93,000.00 - $119,642.00 annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Job Requirements:

Education: Fulfilled the requirements to be a licensed PA or NP in NYS.

Experience: Medical management of house-covered patients or Emergency Room/ICU training. ICU or Respiratory experience preferred.

License/Certification Required: NYS License PA candidates. Current, valid license to practice as an NP in NYS for NP candidates. Must be ACLS/BLS certified.

Skills: Willing to work in an environment that is consistent with ’s philosophy of Continuous Quality Improvement and Highland/PRIDE statement. Maintains adequate CME credits to ensure ongoing competency for performing job duties. Maintains current NYS license and NCCPA Certification.
