University of Rochester Microarray Medical Technologist II in Rochester, New York

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the laboratory section Supervisor and with the ability to work independently, performs routine and specialized Microarray procedures. Performs array analysis, resulting and reporting.

SUPERVISION AND DIRECTION RECEIVED:

Technologist works independently under the guidance of the laboratory section Supervisor and/or Microarray Specialist, with oversight and guidance from the Microarray Laboratory Director.

SUPERVISION AND DIRECTION EXCERCISED:

Training of laboratory section staff, residents, and student volunteers as assigned to Micro-array work.

MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT USED:

Centrifuges, NanoDrop, PCR machines, Incubators/Hybridization Ovens, Electronic Micropipettors, Agilent Microarray Scanner, Computer applications required for arrayCGH importing and analysis, etc.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :

  1. Performs routine microarray procedures including; daily maintenance of laboratory equipment and supplies, specimen receiving and registration, DNA extraction and concentration

  2. Performs micro-array CGH + SNP analysis, documentation and reporting

  3. Other responsibilities and projects as assigned

TYPICAL HOURS:

Monday through Friday with weekly rotating day-shifts hours (Full time)

7AM-3:30PM

8AM-4:30PM

9AM-5:30PM

Rotation of weekends, on-call and Holidays

QUALIFICATIONS :

Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science and one year of experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, experience or certification required for NYS licensure. Must be NYS Licensed or eligible to work. Familiarity with computer applications and databases preferred.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $32.50 - $42.25

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
