University of Rochester Mental Health Therapist in Rochester, New York

Responsibilities

General Purpose:

Provides comprehensive mental health services to adults on our acute adult and geriatric inpatient psychiatric units. Position entails group and individual therapy in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Some opportunities for family-based therapeutic work may be available.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Under general direction and with considerable latitude for independent judgment, conducts group therapy for adults on our acute inpatient psychiatric units. The therapist will have some flexibility in types of group therapy provided, based on their own areas of interest and expertise.

  • Provides direct clinical services to assigned patients, including individual therapy and crisis intervention. Some opportunities for family-based therapeutic work may be available.

  • Participates collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team to provide coordinated care. Collaborates with other professionals both internally and externally throughout patient care activities.

  • Documents treatment in patients’ electronic medical record in compliance with Program, Department and Hospital regulations. Meets minimum target for clinical productivity set by service director.

  • Maintains professional CEU requirements by reading, attending seminars, workshops and conferences.

  • Subscribes to the Departmental goal of creating a culturally competent environment by treating patient, families, trainees, and co-workers in a sensitive manner with appropriate attention to cultural differences.

  • Participates in available cultural competence events and training appropriate to job duties

Other duties as assigned (e.g., treatment planning, etc.)

Requirements :

  • Master’s degree from a Counsel for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs (CACREP) or accredited program with major course work in mental health counseling required.

  • Experience working in clinical setting with children / adolescents and families, including group therapy peferred.

  • Experience with acute services (inpatient, partial hospital, intensive outpatient, crisis services) strongly preferred.

  • Candidates must be able to work in a fast paced, team-oriented environment. Experience working in clinical setting with adults, including group therapy preferred.

  • Knowledge about behavioral health assessments/evaluations and evidenced based interventions prefeerd;

  • Commitment to and routine demonstration of biopsychosocial approach to care of individuals and families preferred;

  • Dedication to delivering a team-based integrated model of care. Demonstrates cultural humility and anti-racism values and works toward ensuring all patients feel welcome preferred.

  • Experience with acute services (inpatient, partial hospital, intensive outpatient, crisis services) strongly preferred.

  • Candidates must be able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment preferred.

  • Required - Licensure as a social worker, as defined by the State Board for Social Work, State Education Department, Division of Professional Licensing Services is required. If licensure has not been obtained upon employment, the individual has 18 months within which to obtain it, unless duties will be performed under OMH then minimum of a limited permit (not to exceed 1 year) or NYS Licensure will be required upon employment start.

  • Requires NYS licensure as a mental health practitioner (e.g., Mental Health Counselor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker) or limited permit eligible. If licensure has not been obtained upon employment, the individual has 18 months to obtain the NYS license.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $ 57,595 - $ 80,600 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
