University of Rochester Medical Technologist 2,CoreLab in Rochester, New York

POSITION SUMMARY:

This Technologist is responsible for the timely and accurate analysis of patient samples, using current, complex laboratory methods and/or instrumentation. Responsibilities include performing drug, vitamin and trace metal analysis from patient samples and entering results collected using the Laboratory Information system. Candidates must be detail oriented, able to work independently, and possess strong organizational skills. The Technologist is also responsible for routine maintenance of lab instruments and equipment, routine quality control and adherence to all lab practices and policies.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

Testing patient samples using tandem LCMS-MS, atomic absorption spectroscopy, and other complex technologies. Adherence to quality control and quality assurance protocols; maintaining professional discretion with confidential patient results; reporting results of patient sample analysis using computer/instrument interface options, as well as manual data entry; communicating effectively when answering telephone inquiries and other laboratory requests as needed; documenting and preparing reagents/QC/calibrators needed for analysis and maintaining correct protocols for their validation; performing daily/weekly/monthly preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment; performing method/instrument troubleshooting as needed; participating in continuing education, proficiency testing and training of other laboratory technologists.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree with Advanced Certificate in Medical Technology or baccalaureate or higher degree in the major of biology, chemistry, the physical sciences, or mathematics. Must be eligible for NYS licensure in Clinical Laboratory Technology or a NYS Restricted License in Toxicology. Pay Range

Pay Range: $33.50 - $43.55 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
