Description of Duties

This is a skilled position in the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office assigned to the Jail Maintenance Unit of a maximum security facility. This position works independently and efficiently to perform a variety of building maintenance and repair tasks and develops an attainable solution for each task. The Maintenance Mechanic I – Secure Facility, as distinguished from the Maintenance Mechanic II – Secure Facility, has the lead responsibility for installing and completing a large project as well as the coordination of many activities or trade skills. The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of the Sheriff’s Facilities Maintenance Supervisor, or other higher-level staff member. The Maintenance Mechanic I –Secure Facility employees may provide supervision over lower level employees. Does related work as required

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus four (4) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience as a skilled worker in one or more of the electrical, mechanical, or construction trades.
