Lifetime Assistance Licensed Practical Nurses assist the Registered Nurse in providing heath related, training, and therapeutic treatments to individuals. They also provide supervision, training and direct assistance based upon each individual's service plan and promote positive behavior and interactions with all individuals receiving services.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Must meet LAI's Vehicle Operator Requirements

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Licensed as a Practical Nurse by the New York State Department of Education and one year of related experience.

    COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, policies, procedures, behavior support plans, treatment plans and other routine instructions. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals, groups of individuals, their families, other staff, other service providers, and the general public. Must be able to effectively communicate with and observe individuals, staff, and other individuals involved in the support and care of those we serve.

    REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of options in situations where only limited instructions exist. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, in order to instruct, care for, and assist the individuals we support, the employee is frequently required to: stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects or equipment; reach with hands and arms; communicate, see and hear. Must be able to bend, stoop and kneel. The employee is also occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift, transfer, and/or move up to 50 pounds. Required to meet OMRDD Level II S.C.I.P.-R. (Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention - Revised) requirements.
