University of Rochester Laboratory Technician III in Rochester, New York

GENERAL PURPOSE:

This Tech III position will be responsible for oversight of the microscope maintenance/optimization for imaging and tissue machining, will also develop/modifications of Matlab codes for digital image processing and quantifications. Assist in data compilation, interpretation and manuscript preparation are expected. This position requires prior training in optical instrumentation and program or relevant fields (e.g., Optics, Math). The work hours per week and duration can be flexible, up to 20 hours per week.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Microscope maintenance/optimization: on demand

  • Coding for digital image processing and analyses.

  • This involves development, modifications of matlab programs to perform image analyses.

  • Aligning and optimizing the laser ablation efficiency.

  • This involves planning, setup, and troubleshoot the intravital microscopy platform.

  • Maintenance of a detailed lab notebook with experimental detail, methods, data compilation and interpretation included.

  • This involves data compilation in graphs, tables, and illustrations. The reports will be used in the materials for publication

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent 5 years experience required

  • Associate's degree in appropriate discipline plus 2-3 years specialized experience in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

  • Practical experience in optical instrumentation and programming preferred.

  • Verbal and written communication skills preferred.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $18.10 - $25.35 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
