University of Rochester Lab Clinical Supt Tech III in Rochester, New York

Responsibilities

Position Summary: Clinical Operation Support Tech III

Office/clinical support in the Surgical Pathology Unit of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Assists the other Clinical Lab Support Tech IIIs with reception and specimen (pathology slides and blocks) receiving and send-out duties. Provides other clerical support to the unit as needed.

Description:

  • Handle phone calls from clinicians or clinician’s offices requesting reports or updates on specimen processing, and email/call pathologist to provide update. Manage requests from outside locations for retrieval of our material and sends out via FedEx or courier. Maintain log to ensure return of our material. Track blocks/slides to Bailey road for send-out testing. Pull slides for conference, scanning and/or pathologist request/review. Fax reports to outside locations. 90%

  • Serves as backup to other support staff and as general support for the pathologists and laboratory supervisors and staff. 5%

  • Greet and direct visitors to the unit and laboratories. Other duties as assigned. 5%

Relationships/Authority:

  • Reports to: Surgical Pathology Supervisor

Functional Requirements:

  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and projects.

  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with co-workers, customers, and vendors.

  • Good computer and organizational skills.

  • Ability to adjust work schedule if needed to meet project timelines.

  • Professional discretion with confidential patient results.

General Requirements:

  • Excellent Communication, word processing and computer skills are essential.

  • Is able to prioritize and maintain focus when responsible for the completion of multiple tasks during one shift.

  • Adherence to all University, Division and Department policies.

  • Demonstrates all aspects of iCARE values.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • AS and one (1) year laboratory experience preferred, or

  • Two (2) years Laboratory Science and technical training closely related to this position, or

  • A combination of formal training and experience equivalent to the above

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in laboratory and familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems, Medical Terminology, Microsoft Office Suite, eRecord

Pay Range

Pay Range: $ 17.50 - $ 22.75 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
