University of Rochester Information Analyst I in Rochester, New York

POSITION SUMMARY:

With general direction and latitude for initiative and judgment, is responsible for preparing reports and analysis for the Department of Ophthalmology for Administration and Finance. Serves as the primary person to prepare and analyze clinical queries. Requires the capability of high level independent decision making.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develops, analyzes, and queries databases (clinical, financial, and research) in order to design informational reports, used to develop recommendations around strategic business decisions, quality analysis, process improvement, clinical use, and legally required reporting.

Extracts and analyzes data from McKesson, and other data warehouses to provide projections and historical analysis on individual provider productivity, service subspecialties productivity, and location specific grouping productivity. Analyze current practice indicators to ascertain the drivers of practice variances. Investigate questions resulting from the analysis and develop recommendations on maximizing performance.

Makes analyses of ledger accounts (UR Financials) and billing records (ePARC) in order to confirm completeness and accuracy of data, safe guarding department funds. Uses judgment as to whether account balances are reasonable and complete. This will include, but is not limited to:

  • Analyses of URMFG monthly financial reconciliation, critical to meeting the requirements of URMFG financial reporting and safe guarding department funds.

  • Analyses of clinical records, pharmaceutical drug purchasing, and billing recorders to ascertain if all allowable pharmaceutical pass through billing was completed in accordance with Medical Insurance contracts and University policy.

  • Analyzing clinical trial grant records to ensure that all clinical procedures were billed, recorded, and paid in accordance with grant requirements and University policy

Develop and maintain reports regarding our clinical market, including but not limited to: leakage reports, geographic market potential, and market share. Establish benchmarking database using national, regional, and local data.

Directly responsible for creating and maintaining departmental databases for strategic planning and operational budgeting. Coordinates the collection/dissemination of information and data for stakeholders to assist in strategic decision making.

Assists with the ad hoc project requests from Chair, Faculty, and Department Administrators.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of medical billing, medical practices, and/or finance. Must have a high level of analytical ability. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy. Ability to work independently while in a group setting, with flexible priorities and timelines based upon group needs.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $ 20.38 - $ 28.56 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
