Job Overview:The Controller will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of multiple business units. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Controller will play a critical role in financial planning, analysis, and reporting, as well as ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in non-profit finance, mortgage loan origination and servicing, GAAP financial statements and fund accounting, strong leadership and communication skills.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS· Financial Planning and Analysis:Develop and maintain financial models to support strategic planning and decision-making.Analyze financial performance across business units and provide insights to senior management.Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and recommend actions to improve financial performance.· Budgeting and Forecasting:Lead the annual budgeting process for each business unit, working closely with department heads to develop accurate and achievable budgets.Prepare monthly forecasts and variance analyses to track actual performance against budget and identify areas for improvement.· Financial Reporting:Oversee the preparation and distribution of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial results to senior management, program directors, and other stakeholders.Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate the annual audit process.Maintain tight control of contract deadlines, fiscal obligations. Meet with program monitors from funding agencies. Complete annual filing requirements.· Cash Flow Management:Manage cash flow projections and liquidity needs across multiple business units.Implement strategies to optimize cash flow, minimize working capital requirements, and maximize return on investment.· Compliance and Risk Management:Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, regulations, and company policies.Identify financial risks and implement controls to mitigate them.Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards and regulatory requirements.· Manage Accounting and Payroll StaffSupervise employees in the Accounting, Payroll and Human Resources functions, including hiring and orienting new employees.Train, coach, and evaluate staff performance.Supervise daily activities to ensure timely and accurate work.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCEBA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related fieldCPA/MBA preferredProgressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferredKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIESStrong communication and social skills· Accomplished in analytical, quantitative and interpersonal skillsAbility to meet deadlinesHigh attention to detailDemonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgroundsNormal Office EnvironmentWe are an equal employment opportunity employer.
