CACI's Mastodon Design team in Rochester, NY is looking to hire a Buyer/Planner. This organization combines world class engineering with real-world experience to deliver innovative products and solutions to the customer. Mastodon excels in the design and manufacturing of technically advanced and user friendly rugged products. Our team has the experience and commitment to excellence allows us to field the highest quality products in the industry.

This position is responsible for purchasing all electronics, electrical components, assemblies, and contract manufacturing commodities (electronics and electro-mechanical) from industry partners and sources worldwide. Candidate will work directly with multiple departments across the business including Product Design Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, Inventory Management, Business Finance, and Shipping/Receiving.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Purchase components for Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) such as active and passive components, transistors and transformers, connectors, and Integrated Circuits (ICs)

  • Purchase material for customer deliverables including Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts, cabling, and accessories

  • Establish and maintain strong vendor relationships

  • Work directly with contract manufacturers for PCB fabrication and assembly

  • Cross reference alternate manufacturer part numbers

  • Support inventory cost detail

  • Create and track Purchase Orders (POs) thru delivery

  • Identify and support qualifying new suppliers

Desired Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of experience in high-tech manufacturing environment purchasing and planning electronic components and assemblies

  • Bachelor's degree in relatable field or business/technology, or Associate's degree with additional relatable years of experience

  • U. S. Citizenship is required

  • Must be willing and able to obtain a US Government security clearance and pass a pre-employment drug screen

Nice to have skills :

  • Superior attention to detail, strong organization skills, and responsiveness to internal and external stakeholders

  • Strong communication, both verbal and written skills

  • Ability to identify cost saving opportunities

  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles

  • Ability to cross reference manufacturing and vendor part numbers using engineering technical descriptions

  • Ability to recommend alternate component candidates for the design team to qualify and approve

  • Experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system

  • Proficiency in MS Windows and Office software: Word and Excel
