University of Rochester Asst Vice Provost, Assessment in Rochester, New York

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Assistant Vice Provost for Assessment serves as a resource and guide for departments, schools and divisions as they develop approaches and methods for measuring progress on student learning and other educational assessment goals. Assessment will be approached as formative and summative activities, rather than a reporting activity and will emphasize continuous quality improvement.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Learning Assessment :

  • Plans, organizes, coordinates, and monitors curricular assessment programs, projects, and activities campus wide.

  • Assists with assessment of institutional learning outcomes and their integration with the Rochester Curriculum (general education) as well as graduate-level academic programs.

  • Collaborates with academic leadership to facilitate the program review process for all academic programs.

Resource and Development Services :

  • Provides direct consultation services in assessment design, training and development educational opportunities to campus units to enhance their undergraduate and graduate student learning outcome assessment activities.

  • Establishes best practices in assessment plans that promote student learning, degree attainment, and success after graduation

Data Collection

  • Chairs university-wide student learning assessment group and produces annual university student learning assessment report (UCEEA).

  • In collaboration with key stakeholders, ensures that appropriate assessment plans are developed. Oversees collection and analysis ofresults and ensures results are communicated and used to make improvements. Iidentifies and monitors trends.

  • Collaborates with AEFIS support team in gathering, analyzing, and reporting data.

Accreditation

  • Provides support for accreditation processes at the program and school level as needed.

Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree required;

  • Masters Degree preferred.

  • 10 years of relevant experience required;

  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • Experience in assessment of learning outcomes in higher education preferred;

  • Progressively responsible academic and/or administrative experience in higher education preferred.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills required.

  • Strong attention to detail required.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously; strong time management skills required.

  • Excellent communication skills required.

  • Project Management skills and knowledge of change management protocols required.

  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively including the ability to build strong team-based relationships with focused priorities and understanding of tasks and timelines required.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $95,306 - $142,979 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
