Description of Duties

This is a stationary engineering position involving the operation, maintenance, and repair of heating, generating, ventilating, and refrigerating equipment. At some locations, the work may also involve maintenance and repairs of plumbing and electrical systems. The employee reports directly to and works under the general supervision of a Chief Engineer ‑ Stationary, Stationary Engineer ‑ First Class, or in the case of Monroe Community College, the Director of Building Maintenance. Direct supervision may be exercised over the work of an Assistant Engineer‑Stationary III or Assistant Engineer Stationary‑Trainee. Does related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or the possession of an equivalency diploma, plus two (2) years of full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in the operation and maintenance of high pressure steam and refrigeration lines.

NOTE : Where education is lacking experience in any of the following areas may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis:

  • Operation and maintenance of high-pressure steam and refrigeration lines;

  • Operation of a refrigeration plant;

  • A related skilled trade (i.e., pipe‑fitting, plumbing, electrical work, millwright, masonry, carpentry, general mechanical repair ONLY).

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS :

    Possession of a Second class Stationary Engineer's license issued by the Examining Board of Stationary Engineers and Refrigerator Operators.
