Robert Half Accounts Receivable Specialist in Rochester, New York

Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Accounts Receivable Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for tracking and resolving outstanding payment issues and generate weekly aging reports in a timely manner. This person must have a strong understanding of the billing process, be a team player with a customer service focus, and have a proven ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, post, verify, and record customer payments and transactions related to accounts receivable.

  • Create invoices according to company practices; submit invoices to customers.

  • Draft account statements periodically or whenever necessary.

  • Communicate with customers to address inquiries and resolve issues and discrepancies.

  • Work together with the sales department or other teams to ensure the accuracy of accounts.

  • Balance the AR ledger on regular basis; handle and monitor unpaid invoices.

  • Maintain records of invoice transactions and status of accounts.

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad-hoc forecasting reports.

  • Perform account reconciliations in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Keep track of financial transactions using appropriate accounting software.

    Requirements

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; a Bachelor's degree would be a major plus.

  • Proven experience as an Accounts Receivable Specialist or similar role.

  • Strong knowledge of billing procedures and collection techniques (e.g., skip tracing).

  • Hands-on experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Google Sheets or MS Excel.

  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, and data entry.

  • Strong mathematical and number management skills.

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Attention to detail and ability to make sound decisions.

  • Ability to prioritize work to manage time effectively.

  • Strong customer service skills for interacting with customers and clients.
